    I have just gotten a ninja blender and love smoothies. My husband ,while he loves vegtables, is very picky when it comes to fruit. He will not touch bananas, stawberries or mangos. He’s iffy on blueberries and doesn’t like cranberries or grapes that much. What do you suggest I do to increase his fruit diversity as it were.

      Hi Heather and thanks for asking! First of all – congratulations on your blender purchase! I understand that all you want to do now is to make wonderful smoothies, both for you and for your husband. If he’s not so keen on fruits and if he’s new to smoothies, it all takes a little getting used to. Start with adding the fruits that he does like and then move from there. The great thing about smoothies is that you can mask flavors pretty well with other ingredients. For example, if you’re making a smoothie with lots of apples, blending in some grapes will only add sweetness, not much flavor. Flavors can also be masked by adding spices such as cinnamon or ginger, then he would still get the benefits from the fruits in the smoothie except he will not taste them. You can also try to experiment with fruits and berries that he has never tried before, like exotic fruits. If you want to make the smoothies creamy, and he doesn’t like the flair of bananas, try using avocado, it’s great in smoothies and has a very mild and pleasant flavor. Full-fat coconut milk also makes it more creamy, so does soaked nuts especially cashews. Best of luck!
