Ginger and pear is a classic flavor combination. I remember eating pickled pears in ginger syrup as a child and this smoothie brings back the memories of childhood to me. We’ve added some greens to make it more nutritious and grapes for natural sweetness. If you can’t find satsumas due to the season, you can swap them for any citrus fruit that you like. Add water and spinach to the blender first and blend until liquified. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
2 cups (500 ml) spinach
2 1/2 cups (625 ml) very ripe pear
2 satsumas (or 3/4 cup / 200 ml) citrus of your choice
2 tsp grated ginger
3/4 cup (200 ml) water
3 tbsp cashews or almonds
(almonds need to be soaked min. 2 hours for weaker blenders)
